I’m researching appliances for our upcoming kitchen remodel, and I’ve got my eye on a white fridge. There are some beautiful choices out there. And pricey! I can see that we’ll need to budget for a serious appliance investment if we go this route. My only question is – are white fridges really making a comeback?
We’re thinking of breaking away from stainless appliances in order to provide some contrast to our grayish-blue painted cabinets. Right now, stainless kind of blends in, without actually matching, and I think white might look better. I’m planning to buy new shaker doors and paint them to give our cabinets a face-lift, but I think an appliance upgrade would elevate the whole kitchen. Based on my initial research, it looks like there are some really classy options emerging for white fridges.
This Matte White Fridge is Making Headlines
Have you seen this beautiful new line of Cafe Appliances? It’s popping up everywhere on blogs and in magazines, especially due to the matte white finish. Cafe Appliances is actually owned by GE, so there’s a company with a ton of appliance experience behind the stylish new brand name. (I find that reassuring.) I particularly love this matte white fridge with different color choices for the handles. So beautiful!
Cafe Appliances makes a coordinating suite of appliances for the kitchen. If I go with this fridge, I’d love to invest in a range, too. Check out some of these beauties!
Great White (and Colorful!) Choices
Another beautiful line of appliances comes from Big Chill. I was aware of the cool retro styling options, but not their Pro or Classic lines. The best part of these fridges are the options for custom colors. While I would love to order this sunflower yellow fridge, I might have to save this gem for my forever home.
Big Chill also sells a Classic Fridge line that looks both retro and high end. I love this white fridge with brushed brass hardware.
Another line I found that sells a white fridge with updated styling is Fisher Paykel. Both the french door model and the bottom freezer style have sleek lines and look really modern. They might actually be too modern for my kitchen, but they are at a slightly more affordable price point.
Last, I located a Samsung french door white fridge that gets great reviews and is not crazy expensive. This one could look really sharp. I’ll try to find it in store somewhere and see it in person. I’m curious to see if it looks shiny (and dated) or more matte and modern.
Stay tuned for some background on our kitchen remodel/face-lift plans. Right now, we’re looking into 20% new cabinets and 80% DIY, which seems to have most cabinet companies scratching their heads. Soooo that may change!
