The holiday shopping season is upon us, and you might be able to save some cash with Amazon Prime Day deals. Prime Day runs from October 13-14 and there should be some good bargains. If you can’t make a purchase this week, keep in mind that many of the same items will probably go on sale again for Black Friday. My goal today is not to shill a bunch of random junk, but if you’ve been thinking about buying a drill (for example), I’ve shared the one we recommend.
Disclaimer: I do not yet know what the Prime Day sales will be; I’m just sharing my favorite items that are available on Amazon. I’ve rounded up my favorite tools and goods for DIY projects and household use. Hopefully some of these picks will be part of the sale, but we won’t know until it kicks off tomorrow.

How to Shop Amazon Prime Day Deals
First of all, you’ll need to be a Prime member to shop the deals. If you plan to make a few critical purchases during the sale, the cost of membership might pay for itself. I have to admit, I order way too many last-minute items through Amazon simply because 1-2 day shipping is so convenient. It’s also waaay easier to place an online order than dragging kids to the store just to argue about what I’m not going to buy them. Right?
I set up these collections to show my favorite household items by category. If you want to keep an eye on something, just click on the heart for an alert if/when the item goes on sale. Again – I am not promising these items will go on sale; these are just some of our favorite purchases from Amazon over the years. Let me know if you have any questions.
Appliances + Gadgets
These are appliances and other electronic items that we’ve bought and liked, mostly for the kitchen. The Instant Pot is my favorite item on this list, hands down. I bought a previous version of this 6-quart cooker during a Black Friday sale two years ago, and I still use it multiple times a week. It’s totally worth it.
Power Tools and Hand Tools
These tool recommendations are all from Wyatt. Even if none go on sale, this is a good gift guide for handy folks, if you’re looking for gift ideas. Wyatt is partial to DeWalt power tools, because they are really high quality and worth the investment. I’ve listed two of his favorite drills below, the regular size and the more compact version, because we use both. The compact version is nice for smaller spaces and it’s a bit lighter, too. We still have our older DeWalt tools with big, heavy batteries, because they never break, so we don’t have an excuse to replace them. We just gradually invest in the new technology, simply because the batteries are lighter and longer-lasting, which makes the tools easier to use, especially for me.
.
As for hand tools, here are some of Wyatt’s favorites. These are the items he reaches for again and again and specifically told me to list in this post. Considering the sheer volume of tools in our collection, that really says something! Plus, some of these items are made in the USA, which we look for whenever possible.
Painting Supplies and Products
One of my go-to paint lines is General Finishes and I buy the products on Amazon. I’ve painted kitchen cabinets and an old bathroom vanity with their milk paint, and everything has held up really well. I also just stained our new front door with the exterior 450 water-based stain, which doesn’t smell (!!) and looks beautiful. I wrote about some of these projects in depth in these posts:

Favorite Home Office Items
Last, here are my favorite recent Amazon finds in the home office or school category. We all love this wobble stool that my son uses for distance learning. The height is adjustable, but the best features are that it’s comfortable and not hideous.
.
Also, I recently collaborated with FlexiSpot to promote this adjustable standing desk. I am really impressed with the low-profile design, sturdy construction, and ease to operate. Just push a button and the motorized desk raises or lowers to your preferred height for sitting or standing. This is a good buy on Amazon, although I doubt it will be a Prime Day deal. Just thought I’d share, if you’re considering a standing desk. (There is a black power cord, but I sneakily hid it behind the table leg in this photo.)
If you plan to shop, I hope you score some Amazon Prime Day deals!
