Are you into spring decor? Mine typically consists of fresh flowers, and that’s about it. However, this spring, I’m also trying to freshen up our house with a few bonus items. I love a bit of whimsy to make us smile – which feels especially needed in the dog days of this school year. If you’re in the same boat, here are some fun spring decor ideas to perk up your space.

Whimsical Spring Decor

We are well into the spring season around here; soccer is routinely rained out and gardeners are itching to get past Mother’s Day and dig in. I tried to reboot our living space by shuffling around some houseplants and finally cleaning the baseboards. It didn’t quite scratch the itch to refresh, but guess what did?

This cheapo little shelf from the dollar bins at Target! Sometimes just one small item can help visually boost your spring decor, and this one did it for me. I just stuck it to the wall with sticky command strips and added a tiny faux plant. This is the first thing we see when we walk in the door.

Once I was on a roll, I finally hung this sign in our kitchen. It totally cracks me up. It’s a Schitt’s Creek reference, but truly, who can deny those pretzels are delicious? If you also love a cute sign, check out Reconstructed Charm on Etsy; she’s got something for everyone. Did you spot my funky little octopus hook? That was a World Market find a few years back, but here is a similar hook.

To hang the sign, I just screwed in a couple of eye hooks and tied on a piece of string.

Decorative Hooks

Hooks are an easy way to add an eye-catching element to your walls. Here are a few ideas for fun decorative hooks. I highly recommend starting your search for unique hooks at Anthropologie; they have an incredible selection.

Show Off Spring Decor on a Shelf

Shake up your shelves with artwork, books, or other decor. Spring decor doesn’t necessarily have to be bunnies and chicks, but it’s a good time to find fun accents to add to your home. I recently grabbed this rattan leaf shelf at Target and I haven’t yet decided where to hang it. It probably won’t last long, so here’s the link, in case any of you love it, too!

Shop Your Home

You might already have the inspiration for a refresh on hand. Do you ever try “shopping your home” for items?

If you have fun accents in your kitchen, break them out to put on display. I bought these little ceramic cactus salt and pepper shakers on a recent trip to New Mexico. (Here is a similar set on Etsy.) On the right below is my favorite thrift store find, a cute copper tea container that I use as a planter.

If you collect anything (plates, pitchers, pottery, etc.), you might be able to shuffle items around for a new look. My basket collection is always put to use in this house.
