Today I’ve got a roundup of affordable and cozy home decor and hygge inspiration. Most of the items I’ve linked are either on sale now or might be over President’s Day weekend. Since I’ve got a feeling the groundhog is going to spot his shadow in a few days, it makes sense to prep for at least 6 more weeks of winter. (Hot tip: Counterintuitively, Punxsutawney Phil almost always “spots his shadow,” despite the notoriously cloudy winters in western PA.) So, in honor of the nap-lovers in my house, read on for hygge (coziness) inspiration…
Cozy Throw Pillows for Decor (or Naps)
When I was a kid, my grandparents had a small round red pillow on their couch, which my brother and I both loved. I should have known that our orange round velvet pillow would have the same effect. It’s a favorite in our house and I’ve been meaning to buy a few more. Plus, it’s such a fun punch of color.
Here are a few fun velvet and corduroy pillows to boost the cozy factor in any space:
Here are other highly-rated pillows that look comfy for a nap or reading your favorite book. Pillows from CB2 are a great buy, because they are priced for both a quality pillow cover and insert, and you can usually choose either down or down-alternative filling. One of my favorites is this reversible, striped cream pillow, on the left side of our couch, above.
Affordable and Cozy Home Decor – Throws and Blankets

My kids have fully embraced the hygge movement; they constantly seek out the coziest blankets in the house. This one (vanilla color) is a universal favorite in our house, plus here are other highly-rated affordable options:
Other Hygge Elements to Consider
Do you have a fireplace? Fire it up! Or grab a space heater to place under your desk or in a chilly room.
Soothe your senses with a candle, diffuser, or wax melter. I like to mix my own wax melts, but you can buy them almost anywhere these days.

Play a soothing album or find a good playlist on Spotify or another online music service. Have your music lined up and ready to go, so you can hit play whenever you need a boost of comfort.
Make yourself a special cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa in your favorite mug. Ever since I organized my coffee station supplies, I find myself mixing up an extra cup of something soothing in the afternoons.

Nurture a few houseplants. Palms, pothos, and spider plants are all pretty easy to keep alive. Plus, houseplants give your indoor air quality a healthy boost. This was my plant station before distance learning took over the living room:
Cozy Home Wrap Up
Whether you spot something new for your space or feel inspired to dig a favorite throw blanket out of storage, I hope you’re feeling nice and cozy at home this winter. We need the positive mental health vibes now more than ever. Have a great weekend, friends!
